2009 Fall Fashion By Alison

This is going to be a blog about all of the biggest trends and fads for this fall. Also some must have essentials for fall. At the end of the blog there will be a list of shops that should have these items. Enjoy!
1) Menswear for women
This is one of the biggest looks for fall. One of the biggest staples you should take from this look is a black or navy blue blazer. Another great thing to incorporate into your look is a tie. This can be used as a tie or you can get creative and wear it as a belt. The possibilities are endless. :)
2) Boho chic
One of the biggest styles this season is Boho chic. Its part hippie part bohemian. This is a great look for fall. Two celebrities that have had the most influence on this look are Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. You will want to get a embroidered shirt and some boots for this look. Also a cute hat is always a great accessory !
This look first became popular in the 70's but has made a comeback recently! One of my favorite
looks from this is to wear a fancy dress and wear a leather bomber jacket over it. Also if you have a old leather jacket its really cute over a AC/DC t-shirt to give you that rocker feel .Try some zipper leggings, leather pants, or a chain necklace for some shine.

4) THINK NEON !
Some really great ways to wear bright colors but not go overboard : a bright bag, some neon shoes or for a minimal color pop, color your nails neon!

5) General Fall 2009 trends
- Pastel colored pants are a great way to be unique instead of wearing boring jeans
- Another way to get away from everyday jeans is to buy some bleached jeans. These are very in right now, try it !
- Stripes you can go for the whole shebang (ie: a sailor look etc ) or just subtle incorporate them into your outfit.
- One shoulder dress. I really like this look, as does Mrs.Michelle Obama !
- Scarfs ! A must have for fall and it will keep you warm too ! try them in prints or a simple color.
- Animal prints .. try them on your shoes, or your purse.
- Plaid, a really great fall item. A scarf, a jacket or a 3/4 sleeve shirt.
- Cardigans. One of the best things to wear in the fall. You can wear a thin one vest like cardigan or a thick long button up cardigan. Argyle is always cute.

Twitter by Alison

Why do over 6 million people currently use twitter ? I really and truly can not understand it. Recently twitter's site was down for a day. *gasp* Omg I can't "tweet" that I was about to take a shower. I might die a slow and painful social death knowing my "followers" don't know what I am doing every minute of my life. The other "appealing" aspect of twitter is that celebrities "use" it and "read" it. So ? celebrities use toilet paper and read the newspaper. What is your opinion about twitter ? Where you aghast when twitter was down for a day ?
Facebook by Alison
What do you think of Facebook ? Do you like it ? Do you use it ? I use Facebook and I like Facebook. I think its a great way to keep in touch with people all over the world. I think one
of the best features is being able to tag your friends in your pictures. I love seeing memories
in pictures, especially ones with my friends. I think the least appealing aspect is the frequent
requests to join this group, or that page that I dont want to join. The best thing about facebook
overall is that you can reunite with friends or family that you dont usually see or havent been in
touch with for a while. Please leave your comments !

Woodstock by Alison
The Woodstock festival's 40th anniversary is this week. Woodstock was planned to take place on the 15th, 16, and 17th of August, but officially ended on August 18th, 1969. 32 acts of the most popular musicians of the day played at the event. "Hippies" from all over the country camped out, in rain and shine. Most of the almost half a million people were involved in some illegal activities ( mostly illegal drugs). "It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 5o moments that changed the history of Rock and Roll. "with a quote from;

Twilight By Alison

Unlike most people I started reading Twilight before it became famous, about 4 years ago. Then it was just a new book with minimal publicity. Now it's a phenomenon. 4 books and a series of movies ! What's not to love ? Romance, Suspense, and ( gasp ) vampires! The plot is boring and uneventful. Teenagers ( and moms ) are going crazy but i dare to ask the question .... why ?? ( i can hear the angry mobs now)But i personally think the series leaves much to be desired. And let's not forget I am a teenager. Whats wrong with me ? you may think. Perhaps I would rather spend my time reading Emily Dickinson or J.D. Salinger. I am a obscure teenager as i would like to read something actually enlightening or thoughtful. Or maybe even .... just a good book ? I am not against all popular books- I think Harry Potter is wonderfully written and the plot is fantastic. Twilight on the other hand has not enough depth and too much fantasy. I do not hate the series but i prefer other literature and films over it. What do you think about Twilight ? Is it worthwhile reading or watching the movie ? Let me know your opinion, and leave a comment.

A day in Michigan.

Alison on the left and Sarah on the right.
A chipmunk, either Alice or Micheal, is enjoying our bird bath.
We temporarily are at our summer cottage in Michigan. An annual paradise for our whole family. Looking out through the window, the sun is slowly fading behind a cloud. The bay is calm and serene for the first time today. The gentle waves lap the shore as opposed to the roaring sound of whitecaps crashing during the day. Canadian geese as well as swans make frequent appearances on the island. Mornings are wet and dreary with rain clouds covering any ray of light. Gradually throughout the day the clouds move back revealing a crystal blue sky and picturesque weather. As the afternoon wears on, the sun grows stronger with a heavy breeze swaying the branches. Soon the sun softens but still gives light late into the evening.
It has been a tradition since 1917 for our mothers family to reside for the summer months in this quaint cabin nestled on Big LaSalle Island. Although many boats have come and gone, and many summers have passed we will keep on coming back for generations to come.
